Default pc2100 + pc2700 can it work??


i have one 256mb pc2700 DDRSDRAM with one vacant slot. can i add another 256megs of pc2100 DDR?? will it have any problems??

It wont have any probs, although the 2nd RAM will work at 266MHz only unlike PC 2700 which worx at 333MHz

why would you add slower ram?

It'll work.

In btw, why r u degrading when u already have a pc2700? At least take the similar one (if ur pocket allows only )

Well i have read about this. There will be no problem to work but it wil work at the speed of only the "SLOWER RAM"

well i had a problem when i installed 2 diff frequency ram sticks.....and as far as i searched over the net i have found that it will work but will be having problems.unstability will be the issue

What is the benefit then of having two ram when ultimately ur sys performance is getting unstable? Better not to have two ram with diff freq, u will agree for sure.

it'll work without probs but u'll have to set freqs esp CAS latency manually from ur BIOS.. 133x2 and 2.5 resp
