This is my first post in this forum.I am a noob as far as computer is considered so i am just growing up.My questions may sound plain idiocy to you.But do help me out

i)Which is the best free

1.)Anti virus?
2.)Spyware, malware, adware detectors?
3.)Fire wall

ii)I prety much dont understand what bandwidth is?
can we increase band width?

For this check what Answers.com have to say about it. LINK

As far as I know, u urself can't increase ur bandwith. Its limited or controlled by ur ISP. May other digitians put more light on this subject.

Sure, obviously.
Back up means saving for ur future. Save today njoy tomoro. Take a weekly backup of ur important data. Try to keep as little data possible in ur "C" (or the drive ur OS installed) drive. B4 taking backup, first do a virus scan of ur files.

Some tips to survive in this forum:-
1. Please use search fascility b4 asking any question, ur question may have already been answered 100 times.
2. Don't get involved in personal attacks, u'll get banned urself.
3. Contribute actively as much or as little as possible.

Again, welcome.

Your all security software can be found here: http://www.techsupportalert.com/pc/security-tools.html

If you are asking BANDWIDTH with reference to Web hosting than read: http://www.findmyhosting.com/bandwidth.htm

Otherwise, bandwidth depends on your ISP, you can increase it by paying them some extra bucks on monthly basis. It's measured in Kbps or Mbps.

Backup: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u..._03july14.mspx
Welcome and Enjoy...!!!

Dont worry. Welcome on borad. everybody starts off as a n00b first and then work their way to the top.

For everything related to antiviruses, (a.k.a. AVs)
refer to this thread:
http://thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94072
Spyware:
You can use any of the two (click on them to download them and install)
Ad-Aware 2008 7.1.0.11
Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6
Firewall:
I'd suggest Comodo Firewall (click on Comodo Firewall to download it)

Lastly, user discretion is adviced when surfing. ie. Dont go looking for trouble. Use Mozilla FireFox 3.1 as it is far safer and better than Internet Explorer.
Firefox has also got many addons which making web surfing safer

Bandwidth (in the simplest of terms) is the amount of data you download for opening a site.
Eg. You spent 22kb of bandwidth to open the ThinkDigit Forum (this is only an example and NOT the actual figure)
For second qeustion, I'd like someone else to throw light on this...

I didnt quite get your question. But backing up of data is recommended as you may never know when your PC might go kaput.

During the latter years of the 20th century, and the early years of the 21st, Spybot S&D and AdAware were kings, protecting you from all manner of malware that tried to infect your computer with the sole intention of parting you from your wallet. But as technology improves, so do the malware writers, and the kings of yesterday in terms of protection may no longer be up to the job.

With every new generation of malware, there will be a new generation of software to combat it, and in my own tests, there are none better than SuperAntiSpyware. How can I be so confident? Because to save you the trouble, I went hunting around the seedier side of Hong Kong websites, picking up as many infections as I could find in a 30 minute surfing session, and then seeing how today’s anti-malware software coped, and without a doubt SuperAntiSpyware was the best.

Ur frnd d/l from internet means??
Does it includes a keygen/patch/serial key??
If yes, then its p!rated. We don't support p!racy.

Dude, in free version solution AVG8+Ad-aware+Komodo are more than enough.

If want paid, go for KIS2009 for single PC license, it may cost u 500-600 rupees.

I am a freeware lover and will only suggest freewares.

Dude frankly speaking first of all Download the trial versions of KIS 2009 or KAV 2009... try them, if you are happy than go for paid one: http://www.kaspersky.com/homeuser

Regarding Kaspersky it's the King of all

Piracy is not to be discussed on this forum. That includes torrenrs, warez, etc. Guess I forgot to add that to my list of rules.

Regarding your AV, KIS 2009 is the best in the business. With that, you will not need any other security software, like firewall, anti-spyware, etc. as KIS is all in one.

But, as you have downloaded it from a torrent, it will work till the Serial key you used is blacklisted, and thus, you wont be able to run it when it's blacklisted, rendering it useless.

You can buy 1 year of security of KIS 2009 at prices ranging from 400/0 to 800/- Rs. (based on bargaining skills/ on site promotions, etc)
