Lower Power Consumption

I have an ASUS motherboard & AMD X2 4400+ proc.
I want to know how to minimize the power consumption while I am only downloading ( 2-8 ) using any tools or bios settings.
I usually switch off the monitor.

well, yes tats obviously advisable..
btw,

if ur display is from a GPU card (graphics card), u can remove the monitor's plug from the graphics card and use the onboard graphics by connecting the pin socket of monitor to tat of the mobo (from the back of the CPU).

Till 2 AM, keep the comp hibernated. I do that and it helps reducing the bill. I sleep at 10 or 11, so 3-4 hours of power save.
