Default C++ Help! (compiler+ebooks)

hi, i have just started learning c++ at my college. what they are teaching is Turbo C++ using the MS-DOS program.
i have windows 7 64bit on my laptop and Turbo C++ doesnt work on it.
I need a C++ Compiler + Debugger which is similar to Turbo C++ and works on 64Bit Windows 7.

could you also recommend some good books for beginners that are available in ebook format for free?
