A Content Management System is an access controlled application to manage the contents in a collaborative environment. CMS system is generally used for storing, editing, enriching and publishing documents. In simple words you do your work in a ready to serve way. That means you dont have go developers way, but just know how that very CMS soft works and you're done, no more coding and settings!

Like you have to prepare your blog site, then you have to start a server and do a hell of settings and all, plus then do PHP, flash and other things as per required, but CMS helps you to do in a very simple way (
xampp helps in this). Ex- Joomla is most popular CMS, Drupal is another one.

In a CMS, data can be defined as nearly anything: documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, scientific data, and so forth. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, revising, semantically enriching, and publishing documentation
ex: Joomla is CMS
