i want to develop a keyword search engine

example there are many text files.
i have a DB of keywords. i select a subset of keywords. and find their synonyms to create another set of words.
now i find those words in the text files and return their names.

that was the easy part,
but now i want RANK those text files. i am not able to think of criteria on which to do it.
any light on this matter, matters
