Default Identify USB 1.1 or USB 2.0

How to identify whether a motherboard has USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port only if the chipset in the M/B (810E, 815, 845, 855, 865, 875 etc) is known ? (Exact Motherboard models are not known.)

Pls answer for Intel chipset based MBs only.

i think mobo above 845 should have USB 2.0

just run sissoft sandra and see what version of USB it shows..

btw if you have any USB Device which is compatible to USB2.0, try connecting it..if the USB 1 or 1.1 is present then it will show high speed device connected to low speed socket or something...

I hope this info helps you

Will any USB device which is compatible to USB2.0, would work on a USB 1 or 1.1 port ?

yes it will work but u wont get full perfomance..

for example...
iomega 52x cd writer will burn at 4-5x max with usb1 and will burn at 52x on usb2

USB 2 is very fast..

if you r usuing windows (the verson which supports usb 2 are me/2k/xp nt and 98SE supports them with patches) go to device manager and if any usb controler is listed with the word enhansed it is workin in usb 2 mode
the chipsets which supports usb2 are 845 and above (nt all 845 support usb2)
ofcourse the high speed usb should be enabled from BIOS

Default USB 1.0 or USB 1.1 ??

I'm also following this thread....
I've got JIL- BL810eASL motherboard... obviously i810e chipset

I know this board doesn't have USB 2.0 but what it has that I'm yet to find, whether USB 1.1 or 1.0 ?

The Mobo manual mentions two links but almost of no help....
www.lucky-star.com.tw
www.jil-jupiter.com

Any other utilities other sissoft sandra, something meant just to identify USB ports???
