Default What PSU should I buy for this configuration ??

intel core2duo e6540
msi geforce 8800gt 512mb oc
motherboard(something under about Rs.3000)
2x sata2 hdd
1 optical(dvd) drive
17" crt monitor
3.1ch speakers,peripherals

do i even need to buy a sperate psu or should i just go for stuff that comes inegrated with most cabinets, like my current frontech smps cabinet(i dont know what type of psu they come with). after all i'm not building something top-end (or even an sli machine) .

Bundled psu's are cheap and so is their performance. I would suggest you go with Corsair VX450W since you are planning to run 8800GT.
BTW, what's your budget for the PSU?

corsair hx-620 ...or coolermaster extreme power 600W around INR3000 which is almost half the price of the corsair.

i think i'll stick to coolermaster. but is 1000W really essential? or 850W enough? because there's a 4k difference in their prices.

CM realpower pro:
850W - 11k
1000W - 15k.

Also i remember reading that the PSU should have 15% higher capacity that actually reqd by the components, to suffice under load conditions......

BTW - i am not able to find any websites with wattage calculators (atleast those which are up to date). those which i found were a couple yrs old. can anyone suggest one?

thanks for the help.

EDIT: ok after searching again, i stumbled upon this site(up-to-date): http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

my basic config requires ~622W [with 15% extra =>715W]
SLI config requires ~780 [with 15% extra => 900W]

@confused

i think it might be feasible for you to go for 1000W given the components that you wanted to use
