will LCD monitor work on my config?

Hi friends, currently I've BPL 15" CRT (don't laugh). So I want to buy new LCD TFT monitor under 15k. But I havn't upgraded my pc since 4 years. I've following main config-

Pentium 4- 2.4 GHz processor
Gforce FX 5200 128mb card
512mb ddr2 ram

I want best & largest (inches) possible LCD/TFt monitor under 15k. I expect best possible build quality, descent looks, wide screen and other technical features that will come under 15k (like dvi i/p). What I just want to know is, will it run on my pc having given config? And I mostly want for movies watching and animation, special effects, etc.....

So I think you cak hook up 22 or 22 inch monitor.

but 1st do check your graphics card manual for maximum supported resolution

you could get a 22 inch LCD TFT within your budget.

How come u have DDR2 RAM since u haven't upgraded for last 4 years?
I mean 4 years back there was no sign of DDR2 RAM modules!

For 15K u can easily get a 19" or may be 22" LCD!

@sagardani, any LCD monitor should work, just take care to check the max resolution your card supports. Even if it doesnt support the max resolution supported by the LCD, u can still use it at a lower resolution. Newer monitors can work well at non-native resolutions also.

But keep in mind that ur system is quite old, so if u r not planning to upgrade soon or buy additional devices that can connect to ur monitor, all those extra features (DVI/HDMI..blah blah) will just be wasted, so dont pay a premium for those. I would suggest that you get a decent value for money 19" widescreen monitor, LG or Samsung.

+1 for 19" widescreen. Its more than enough for desktop use, unless u haf a gud GFX card nd is a serious gamer.

Hey folks.... Its been long time I didn't appear on this thread because I had dropped that plan. Now again I want to start discussion on this thread as Im thinking a LCD monitor..

My budget is now reduced to 10-11k ! So there will be a 19" Ws monitor in this range. But problem is- my gfx card has VGa out and all the monitors come with DVI i/p. So what I want to know is- is there VGA to DVI converter available? Once I buy monitor, Im not gonna change it atleast for 3 years. Meanwhile I may upgrade other hardware. But right now my gfx card has VGA o/p. Can I connect LCD to it? The monitors come only with DVI-D or they do have VGA also? VGA i.e analog is compramise and will reduce quality? How to solve this problem?

well certain tfts come with both inputs- afaik samsung does have some models.

though i'd suggest Dell ..otherwise samsung.just dont go for a viewsonic one

But will analog be compramise ? Or is there an AGP card I can buy? Don't think of p7n here. Have postponed those plans. Suggest me a good suitable AGP card around 2.5k (cheaper is preffered as I just want to connect LCD monitor). How is Sapphire X1300 series?

Your gfx card in enough to connect lcd monitor as lcd monitors comes with vga ( must ) & dvi ( majority nowdays ) connector.
As I've connected a lcd with my 5200 gfx card.
