dude when you talk of "Game Machine", then its got to be OVERCLOCKED

so get
m/b -> ASUS P5B Deluxe (with or without WiFi) --- cost ~12k
RAM-> Transcend DDR2 800 Mhz RAM, or Corsair....
Processor->e6300 Overclock it to 3+GHz

@ s18000RPM when you talk of GAMING MACHINE then it should be future proof.... so E6600 will be a better choice if he wants a future proof gaming,

Although what you suggested is a great config but his budget is less than Rs.50000/- and if goes for what you suggested he needs to shell out Rs.6000/- more.

Way out of his budget.

Great config but outside his budget and also he should know how to overclock.

@sridatta
sridatta
He wants a powerful system, so it should be a C2D or even an X2. HT is obselete now nd a C2d is around 3 times faster.

Shantanu i guess we both "Over Shot" the Target Budget

But this Processor is the BEst bet, why not try a low-end version P5b m/b

->m/b=> ASUS P5B V (has Onboard Gfx.) - cost- ~8.5k
->Procy.=>same E6300 - cost - ~8.5k

but dont even think of relying on the onboard gfx.

future proof gaming :- They are no such thing called fpg.

Some suggestion :-

1. Monitor :- Samsung 17" CRT = Rs.4500/-

Do not get a 17inch monitor. If you have the money get 19 or 21 inch. If you have more money get a LCD monitor with 8 or 3 ms response time.

2. Hard Disk :- Seagate 250GB SATAII = Rs.3800/-

Game nowdays takes lot of space. Getting a 250 GB is hopeless if you are a gaming freak. If you have the money get a western digital, hitachi or seagate 500 GB HDD.

3. Graphics Card :-BIG Nvidia 7600 GT 256MB PCI-E = Rs.8200/-

What is the point of having Directx 9.0c card now?. It will dead within 7 months. Wait for Direcx 10 cards. It is on the way.

Oh and you are only getting PC in two months. So you have more time by then all the prices of the computer hardware will hopefully be less. If the indian government does not hike the useless vat and useful tax.

Yes the board you mentioned is good enough to play present games. But not future proof as it do not support Core 2 Duo.

If you are not planning for Core 2 Duo, this is ofcourse best motherboard in its catagory.

give gigabyte mainboards a try, the all solid capacitors design is definitely an add-on on system's performance.

if there are no such things as future proff then why people bought 8800 and 7950 cards to play games for one or two months.. no These ae future proff cards.. basically 8800 is a fPG card as VISTA support and all upcoming games support.. this is future proof...

and there are hardwares which are future proff

Proccy:

Intel quad core
AMD QUAD FX

1033 MHZ RAMfrom CORSAIR

1 TB HDD from BUFFALLO and others

8800 GTX from NVIDIA

WINDOWS VISTA

and many more like this

IF THERE are no such things as future proof then why we use latest systems we should go for old vaccum tubes type comps....

what other option do we have here?, its either Nvidia or ATi.

so waiting will only make more money spending (u'll buy a dx9 card, then a dx10), so why not get the DX10 card in the first place itself

DX10 has also arrived, games are not far behind, just few months from launch.

If nothing is futuristic, then why don't we stay with 102 motherboard and other things.

When we say futuiristic, it do not mean for 50 years. In this field if it lasts for a year or so, it is futuristic.

And that equals to Directx 9 is past and directx 10 is the future?.

What is i say Microsoft is working on directx 11 is being currently working on. What if they say directx10 did not do well or what if market changes. You do know that markets are changing rapidly day by day. You say future is today or tomrrow. What if it is already here?.

future is never here buddy!!! the tomorrow becomes today and then again a tomorrow is there.. so future will keep changing..

yeah DX11 will also come but DX10 is having a lot to give... the future cannot run on things unknown.. we lay its foundation today only...
DX10 is our present but only in VISTA. not in Xp it uses Dx 9c till now ... and DX11 -- its also future but a late future.. not upcoming.. the upcoming is Dx10 updated .. its versions. and cards based on it...

Youare telling hings which are not possible..as DX10 didnt do well so lets release Dx11.. A company runs on specefic certain tasks not imbalanced futures..

yeah DX10 games are not future ,, only one game is launched all others are fuure
__________
i think you and caleb did the hijacking ... so leaving this here only...
