Guys I want to have the following compulsary parts...

1)Core 2 Duo
2)1 GB RAM or 2x512 MB which would be better
3)120 or 160 GB HDD
4)17" CRT

Now I have a question regarding the Core 2 Duo...My local shop called me that if do many multitasking jobs on the computer then Core 2 Duo is meant for me..But if not then I can have Dual or Pentium 4....and they also said that there is no upgrade option from Core 2 Duo to Quad Core in future ...Is there any motherboard for that...

Also tell me what will be best suited for me..I want to spend more time on gaming and multimedia..So rather I sould go for a Dual core and have a motherboard with the compatibilty of upto core 2 duo..please suggest for such motherboards...

Not within your budget at all.
C2D e6300 + mobo should come to around 15K
1GB RAM to about 6K
120/160GB hard disk would cost 3/4K not so sure
17"CRT will be 6K
that in itself comes to 30K. And what's the use of even having a gaming PC without a half decent graphics card and a good SMPS.

So either you will have to increase your budget a lot or settle for nothing more than Core Duo 2.8 GHz.
