Default AMD config & at what price?

I need help deciding on a new system. I have a P4 2.8 Ghz running on an Intel 915 GAV mobo, with 2 GB DDR ram, an Elsa Gladiac 940 GT PCIe card (256 mb), a seagate 120 GB SATA drive, Combo drive, 5.1 creative speakers and 15 inch monitor. One problem with the system is that the fan makes a lot of noise and it heats up really fast. Could anyone suggest whether the following would be a good upgrade and whether 50K should be enough to cover the costs. I intend to use the PCIe card as well as RAM from the old system on to the new one.

ASUS A8N SLI mobo
AMD Athlon 3200+
Western Digital Caviar SE HDD 250 MB / Hitachi/ seagate 160 mb
Sony DRU 810 A DVD writer
Philips 107 C6 monitor (17 inch)
True 550 watts SMPS from Antec

Thanks in advance

Ur current config is very good IMO !

Check ur fans and clear ur PC for any dusts etc.. and then see if the noise still continues, if it does, better get new fans.

As for the UPG, Ur choices are good, I dunno about a better mobo, but a 3400 64+ AMD wud be a better deal if u can afford it!

Rest are just as fine as ur choice

Your current config can still play the latest games if paired with a good graphics card. You already have a ton of RAM.
The only part of your PC that sucks is the monitor. Instead of getting a new rig, get a 19" LCD monitor, a Geforce 7600GT graphics card, a DVD writer and a bigger HDD.
