Default Need Help Buying 24 X 7 download rig

First of all,I have not filled the questionnaire as it is not a conventional rig I'm building. Mods if not OK please inform,I'll edit the post.

So,I need a system which I would be able to use as a 24 X 7 download rig and a storage system. I have a 5 year old Samsung 17 inch LCD monitor which I'll use and a Seagate 1TB HDD which I'll use as the storage device.I'll want to run Windows 7 Basic at least but if not possible I'll manage by using Linux Mint or Ubuntu.
So what I'll be needing is a motherboard, processor,RAM,power supply and cabinet. I want as power efficient as it can get and preferably with a small footprint.
Budget 10-15 K max. Do not need a DVD drive but at least 2 USB ports. I have a Wi-Fi Router so it will be good if I'll be able to connect it wirelessly to my Home-group for data and Printer Sharing with other devices.

    look no further than this:
    atom dual core kit(cpu+mobo)=3900
    4gb corsair laptop 1333 ram=1200
    psu=generic 500w costing ~550-660 or FSP saga II 400W for ~1800.
    cabinet:your choice.look for any mini-itx/micro-atx cabinet costing ~1000.
will run windows 7 any version fine & total power usage will be ~60-70w excluding monitor.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Think about buying nebooks costing between 13-18K.
Will suggest names & models only after your next reply & if you are interested in buying netbook.

will add one more comment before I see any response. I prefer downloading on laptop than desktop as power consumption in laptop is lesser. That is why was suggesting netbook

Samsung one is out of my budget and it also has a Pentium D processor. high power consumption and very unreliable.
Acer one is good though. Thanks for the recommendations.

You will have to get it from US. Shipping to India is either not possible or very costly.

I didn't find it anywhere when I looked for it. Ebay global buy is an option.

I think we should ask/insist Flipkart to stock PogoPlug.
That's really a great piece of device.

I think some routers now days support torrent client and USB storage (external drive). Would be much cheaper i guess with huge capacity !!

    4k (Router) + 5k (HDD)

    Would be power saving too..

I dont think flipkart is not gonna import anything from outside.

Again, If you can get any plug from outside, and is comfortable with Linux, I will recommend you to get any GuruPlug. The possibilities are endless with kind of hardware they provide. D2 Plug Dev Kit

I am running rtorrent and a small web and file server in my Tonidoplug. It's one capacitor got burnt out some time back. Got the capacitor replaced. Thanks to my roommate who is an electronics engineer. But another one also got burnt out recently. Yet to be replaced. I suspect the voltage fluctuations in my flat.

If you just want to download torrent, get a router as Naxal suggested.

Then which routers are good in 5k budget range which can be modded for such use ?

I think this supports torrents out-of-the-box

@arko1983 - Its supports torrent downloads out-of-the-box right ? No need to mod anything like installing dd-wrt ?

no,buy the asus rt n13 u/b1. b1 version(i think only this version supports ntfs) its better not the normal one.i tried using other ddwrt stuff but it didnt work as planned.update your firmware after u buy and install the b1 version drivers.(here i made mistake so went the dd wrt way.)but after returning to asus i have zero probs.can download torrents without any probs with my 500 gb seagate.
    this one-
    ASUS - Networks- ASUS RT-N13U B1
    not this one
    ASUS - Networks- ASUS RT-N13U

don't know about the flipkart one it doesn't say b1.
