Need suggestion for RAM upgrade
Hello guys,
I want to change my RAMs of 2x2gb 1333mhz kingston value rams(see signature) to higher frequencies of 4gb memory modules from Corsair Vengeance or the Gskill Ripjaws @1600mhz but i have doubts of whether they will be supported by my 785chipset motherboard.
I need your advise and suggestions/recommendations.Spoiler:

Re: Need suggestion for RAM upgrade
Your moerboard supports Ram upto 1800 MHz speed and you can use any 1600 MHz DDR3. But remember, all the Athlon II and Phenom II series by default support 1333 MHz speed and when you will plug the Ram, it will be downclocked to 1333 MHz.
You have to go the BIOS menu under which the advanced setting for tweakings are listed. On that page, under memory setting, you will find an option of Memory Multiplier setting or something like FSB: Dram ratio.
Set it to 1:4 or 800 (I am not sure about your BIOS). You will see that the Memory speed is now shown as 1600 MHz inside the BIOS. Save the BIOS and restart and you are running ur Ram at 1600 MHz speed.
UPDATE
1. Go inside the Motherboard BIOS and go under the Advanced Menu.
2. Now from the available options, go inside the JumperFree Configuration option
3. You'll find a section called Memory Timing and Voltage
4. Under this you will find an option Memory CLock Mode with Default value AUTO. Set it to Manual.
5. Now you will see the option Mem Clock Value will be editable.
6. It will have configurable options like [400Mhz][533MHz][667MHz][800Mhz].
7. Select 800 MHz option and save and restart the system by pressing F10 and and clicking at Y to save it.
After restart, you will see tha rams are running at 1600 MHz speed. Install and run CPU-Z to verify.AMD FX 8350|16 GB RipjawX 1873 MHz CL10 @ 1.6V MHz|1+2TB Seagate + 1 TB WD Green 64MB Cache|Sabertooth 990FX|Sapphire HD 7950 VApor-X OC with Boost|GT 240 1 GB GDDR5 PhysX|CM690II Advanced|LG D2342P Cinema 3D Display|TX850 V2|2 CM 1600RPM FAN|MX518|Razer Goliathus|Razer Arctosa|Razer Megalodon 7.1 Headset|CM Hyper 212 Plus|APC1.1KVA| Moto Defy Plus|HCL Me Y2 Tab (rooted)

Re: Need suggestion for RAM upgrade
Add 2x 4GB G.Skill RipjawsX 1600MHz RAM @3K.
You don't need to remove the existing 2x2GB RAM. Just run the new set of ram in one channel and old pair of ram in another channel and you will be fine.
P.S. Your board (i.e. Asus M4A785TD-V-EVO) won't support 1600MHz out of the box, you have to manually OC it.
I mean to say after adding any 1600MHz module(s) in your system BIOS will autometically adjust it to 1333MHz unless you set the frequency manually.

understood and
thank you for the replies
okay guys could you please suggest which brand to go for along with links to buy online? i think i've read somewhere that for amd system it is better to go for tighter timings rather than higher frequency or something like that correct me if i'm wrong.
how about vengeance?Spoiler:

F3 12800CL9D-4GBXL is most probably a Dual Module pack in 2X2GB configuration whereas F3 12800CL9S-4GBXL is a single 4GB module.

Re: Need suggestion for RAM upgrade
^^ Clius can't participate cause he is staff. (most prolly)
I won't cause I don't need any more cpu cooler. Its better that those products go to some guys who really need them.Last edited by d6bmg; 11-05-2012 at 07:48 PM.

Am I assuming wrong?

Re: Need suggestion for RAM upgrade
Even if there are such rules, I think I am not a staff, Digit doesn't pay me for my work.
