Default Motherboard and processor combo question.

my current pc,a lenovo k series,is not working now.So i am planning to change and upgrade.
I have the following components already:
    1. sparkle nvidia geforce 8400 GS 512 mb graphics card
    2. 500 GB hard disk
    3. 2 GB DDR2 strontium RAm
    4. 2 512 MB DDR2 sticks of RAM
    5. a monitor
    6. speakers
    7. mouse
    8. keyboard
    9. UPS
    10. printer

so in short,i need a motherboard and a microprocessor
i am planning to go with core i3,
i dont want any AMD processor.only intel strictly.
my budget is of 5000 INR
please suggest what i can get at this budget. If i cant, please do post what i can get.USb 3.0 will be good, but can be sacrificed.I need it urgently,so please do suggest.
any company will do,but i need it to fit in my cabinet too..
I would like to stick to the budget.
provide the cheapest and the best please.
i am willing to buy only the processor and motherboard.

cheapest current generation core i3 2100 processor costs ~6600.cheapest mobo supporting this processor costs ~3200.all core i supporting mobo are ddr3 ram not ddr2
    option 1:increase budget to ~11000.
option 2:get pentium G620(based on same design as core i series but slower) for 3500 by increasing budget to ~7700.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

    not really possible full stop.
i saw a cheaper i3 than that on the net itself! that means there has to be something cheaper around.
im open to any other configs which are fast and will last, are cheap under my budget or a little higher and support ddr2 rams
    thanks!

my advice is instead of reviving a outdated system save some money & get a latest generation system which will suffice for next 2-3 years.if not possible then cheap pentium dual core(based on core2duo)is available for ~3000 & compatible mobo for ~2600 with ddr2 ram support.another option is get the discontinued older generation i3 540 for ~5600,compatible mobo for ~4100 & 4gb ddr3 ram for ~1200 but keep in mind that you will not be able to upgrade anything on this system because older generation core i series & compatible mobos are discontinued.

    lol..not possible in your budget.

In any case, if you increase your budget to 11k, then Intel will be waste of money.

    AMD A6-3650 (quad core APU) + Gigabyte GA-A55M-S2V + 4 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 RAM = 6200 +3500 + 1500 = 11,200.

A6-3650's built-in Radeon HD 6530D should be 4 times faster than nVidia 8400GS lol.

    Better than Core i3-2100 + 8400 GS.

I've given you a config for 11K. That's what is worth it.

Going for Core i3-540 is waste of money.

Going for Core i3-2100 without adding a discrete graphic card costing Rs. 5,000.....i.e. extending your budget to around 18K, is again waste of money as far as overall performance is concerned.

should have told that earlier, right?

HTPC...you don't even need a Core i3 in that case.

    Pick this up.

    AMD A6-3500 (tri core) @ 4500.
Gigabyte A55M-S2V @ 3500. This motherboard doens't have HDMI port. Do you need one?
    4GB DDR3 1600 Mhz @ 1500.

    Total = 9500.

Pentium G640 processors + H61 motherboards are fine as well. But I suggest AMD A6-3500 because of better GPU.

well, the reason I have suggested A6-3500/3650 (built-in Radeon HD 6530D) is, because you'll play games.

Extra info in simple words - AMD created the currently used 64-bit architecture. Intel copied it because they lost and AMD's was better.

    Spend more.

USB 3.0 motherboards start from Rs. 6000. Usually.

    MSI A75MA-G55 @ 5400.
    Asus F1A75-M LE @ 6200.

And not having USb 3.0 doens't mean "outdated"... I have got 4 USB 3.0 ports in my motherboard. I don't even use any USB 3.0 device.

    agreed.
    but USB 1.1?!
2.0 and 2.0 HS will do.

any idea for a faster microprocessor?

at your budget this is what you get. you can't get the best of everything on a shoestring budget. moreover, you may buy a board with USB 3.0 & find it useless for many years. or you can buy this board, drop in a USB 3.0 card at a later date. i'll simply suggest buy what you really need & don't run after brands just following the hype they create by launching highend product.

Do you even realize the fact that USB 1.1 is nothing more than mention to specify backwards compatibility? Every port is 2.0. Every USb 2.0 port is backwards compatible with 1.1.

You've got only USB 2.0 "ports" at the back.

I'm not answering anymore "weird" questions. Before coming to this forum, you need to do your homework.

at your budget this is what you get. you can't get the best of everything on a shoestring budget. moreover, you may buy a board with USB 3.0 & find it useless for many years. or you can buy this board, drop in a USB 3.0 card at a later date. i'll simply suggest buy what you really need & don't run after brands just following the hype they create by launching highend product.
agreed.but i aim to be getting the best possible-everybody does right?
i was looking at this list and see what i can get:

If you have the money for A6-3650, buy A6-3650.

If you have the money for A8-3850, buy A8-3850. Simple logic?

No, I'm not frustrated because you don't know about these things. I am frustrated because you missed the forum rules and sticky threads - FAQ and Posting Guidelines for new members

We have already given straightforward answers to every question you have asked in this thread.

In reality, because your thread wouldn't have been approved because it wasn't conforming to the PC Configuration Template we have here.

This is something what is known as doing the home work on your own. We are here to help out. But not spoonfeed.

Read the link I listed above.
