    Hi

    Which is the best cpu i can opt for this motherboard. Currently am running intel c2d 2.66 on it.

    For best cpu for this mobo look for Intel 8 series quad core cpus

    Actually Core2Quad processors have reached EOL and it is very hard to find them. Also if available, their prices are rediculously high. For example last known price of C2Q 8200 is 7K which is equivalent to a Athlon II X4 620. Now Athlon II X4 635 is available @ 4K only.
    On that price, you can even have an Athlon II X4 + AM3 motherboard combo. So I don't think it is a good idea to buy a new C2Q processor now. Check in different forums if somebody is selling an old one.

    so how much would it cost me for the upgrade i guess i might have to upgrade my 4gb ddr2 ram also?. Also by comparison how much boost in my computer i am looking for percentage wise

    Sell of the old CPU+Motherboard+Ram. I think it will fetch at least 4 to 4.5K and let us know the extra amount you can spend. We will suggest according to the total budget.

    Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 @2.5K
    G-skill F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT @0.7K (you will need ddr3 ram)

    Total: 7.2K
