Gaming pc for 45k....
Guys i am building a PC with a budget of 45k.
The components that i have selected are....
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.20 Ghz
2X2 GB Gskill Ripjaws
500 GB WD cavair Blue
GTX 560/GTX 460/HD 6850???
Benq V2210 21.5 inc full hd
Cooler Master Elite 430
*Guys, please suggest me a good Mother board and a PSU.
*What graphics card should i take out of the three(which gets me the best bang for the buck)/or should i wait for HD 6950 price to drop???
*Do i need a cooling kit for this configuration???
*Also if you have any other recommendations you are welcome(but i have a very tight budget, may be i can stretch it by 1-2k).

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
If You could have filled the Template it would be better but anyways..
1. 955 BE is No probs but if you can wait a month then BD will be out.
2. Ram is Fine
3. Get 1 TB Price difference is too less to ignore
4. Out of those I say HD6850
5. Monitor is OK afaik
6. Case is OK
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA 880G - USB 3 - 4.8K
HD6850 is sufficient for HD gaming.

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
I saw in a graphics card round up that GTX 560(not Ti) is great value for money card and that it performs almost at par with 6950,and with extreme physx and tessellation(which are important for up coming games) thrown in it managed to outperform HD 6950.

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
You are wrong buddy, the 560 Non Ti performs just slightly higher than HD 6870. Even its bigger brother 560 Ti is little short from HD 6950. Also GTX 560 has hughe power consumption compared to the performance it offers.

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
They are already at 12-13k level. Next drop will be only after the launch of next gen cards. As Kepler would be delayed compared to HD7000, expect to see the drop in nVIDIA cards first.

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
you read this in chip mag?
@jaskanwar
yes i read that in chip mag july 2011.
Ok,thanks guys for your replies,But you will have to help me once more. For a gaming machine it is advisable not to spend too much money on processor(those on a budget) ,instead invest the saved money on a graphics and a monitor for a better eye candy. So ,as my budget was not big i had to look for processor in the range of 5-6k.So intel i3 and phenom II X4s were my only options.I previously chose phenom II X4 955 BE blindly because of 4 cores. But i searched and found out that the i3 beats the phenom most of the times. Also very few titles like crysis,BFBC ..etc uses 4 cores. So now i am really in a fix whether i should pick i3 or phenom II X4.because i cant ignore the fact that future games may be optimized to use all the 4 cores and Intel i5 is really out of my budget.

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
Ya, you are sure about the gaming performance...i3 2100 performs better than 955 in most of the cases. But still Phenom II X4 955 is a vaiable option because:-
1. In multi-threaded applications, Phenom II X4 955 performs better than i3 2100 because of its 4 Physical cores compared to the 4 logical cores of i3 2100.
2. Since Phenom II X4 955 is a Black Edition processor, it can be overclocked very easily to gain some more performance, both in gaming and applications, a feature missing in i3 2100. Even with the stock cooler, 955 can reach upto 3.6 GHz and euqal the gaming performance
3. Now you have mentioned that in games like crysis2, Battle Field Bad Company etc. 955 performs better. The reason being is all the current latest games are getting highly multi-core optimized and 955 gets an advantage because of its 4 cores. Expect all the upcoming games to be highly optimized for multi-core processors and Phenom II X4 has a slight benefit over i3 2100 over there.AMD FX 8350|16 GB RipjawX 1873 MHz CL10 @ 1.6V MHz|1+2TB Seagate + 1 TB WD Green 64MB Cache|Sabertooth 990FX|Sapphire HD 7950 VApor-X OC with Boost|GT 240 1 GB GDDR5 PhysX|CM690II Advanced|LG D2342P Cinema 3D Display|TX850 V2|2 CM 1600RPM FAN|MX518|Razer Goliathus|Razer Arctosa|Razer Megalodon 7.1 Headset|CM Hyper 212 Plus|APC1.1KVA| Moto Defy Plus|HCL Me Y2 Tab (rooted)

Re: Gaming pc for 45k....
arrey those idiots dont know even the simple fact that amd cards are not made to render physx code. they use physx as a test. dont know why. maybe they are biased

now you saw conclusion. but if you go through fps part there is a different story. lets make this transparent
now you need to understand the fact that amd has designed the tessalator in their HD69** series keeping in mind normal tessellation.
you can read about this at anandtech article when 69** were launched.
but yeah nvidia needs to be given credit for their work on tessellation part (polymorph engines in fermi)
now 560 is more or less a 6870.
Now see this -
<30 FPS
very limited gameplay
30-40 FPS
average yet very playable
40-60 FPS
good gameplay
>60 FPS
best possible gameplay
So if a graphics card barely manages less than 30 FPS, then the game is not very playable, we want to avoid that at all cost.
With 30 FPS up-to roughly 40 FPS you'll be very able to play the game with perhaps a tiny stutter at certain graphically intensive parts. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Match the best possible resolution to this result and you'll have the best possible rendering quality versus resolution, hey you want both of them to be as high as possible.
When a graphics card is doing 60 FPS on average or higher then you can rest assured that the game will likely play extremely smoothly at every point in the game, turn on every possible in-game IQ setting.
Over 100 FPS? You either have a MONSTER graphics card or a very old game.
MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition OC review
you will see that extreme tessellation renders fps that are just average. normal tessellation does the job.Last edited by Jaskanwar Singh; 21-08-2011 at 05:01 PM.
