    Default Best configuration under 13k-14k

    Hi experts, i am new here in this forum. Please suggest me best configuration for Processor + Motherboard(onboard video) + Ram + Hard disk(minimum storage capacity) within the budget of 13k to 14k. I prefer Intel but Athlon is also acceptable. Actually Previously i used an athlon CPU and i was not satisfied with the performance so i am thinking of intel. Anyway suggest me the best. Thanks in advance.

    1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
    A: Photoshop, downloading images from memory card, digicam, HD video playback and other normal daily multitasking.

    2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
    A:Yes always welcome

    3. What is your MAX budget?
    A:14K

    4. Planning to overclock?
    A:yes if possible for faster performance

    5. Which OS are you planning to use?
    A:W7 home premium 64bit and XP pro 32bit.

    6. How much hard drive space is needed?
    A:160GB is more than enough for me.

    7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
    A:24" Full HD

    8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
    A:5

    9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
    A:I have done more than ten times.

    10. When are you planning to buy the system?
    A:tomorrow

    11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
    A:Yes. As i am going to install genuine windows OEM version.

    12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
    A: Graphics card as i want onboard graphics.

    13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
    A:Kolkata

    14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
    A: Only MOBO+PROC+RAM+HDD configuration is needed.

    Processor-Intel core i5 2300 -Rs 9000
    Motherboard - Intel DH61WW- Rs 3350
    Hard Disk- Seagate 250 GB Rs- 1650
    RAM- Corsair Value RAM 2GB Rs- 1000

    Total= Rs 15000

    This provides extremely good performance for your budget and will run anything seamlessly for atleast 3-4 years. Add another 2gb of RAM when you have the cash.
    Intel Core i3 2100 //4GB Corsair DDR3 1333 RAM //Intel DH61WW//Sony AD-7260S DVD-RW//Samsung 2033SW Monitor//Windows 7//Seagate ST3250310AS 250GB HDD

    At this budget, nothing beats AthlonII.
    Go for this:
    * CPU: AthlonII X4 640 -- 4.5k
    * MoBo: GA-MA880GM-UD2H -- 4.2k
    * RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR3 -- 2.2k
    * HDD: Seagate 7200.12 1TB -- 2.6k
    Total ---- 13.5k

    Its AthlonII Proccy and is much better than any intel counterpart at this budget. You get a REAL QUAD CORE unlike intel.

    GeekyBoy,
    do you think it makes sense to go for 250GB HDD at 1.65k when a new 500GB HDD is available for 1.7k.

    Yes, the intel i5 rig is better rig. And OP should go for it if he extends his budget by 1.5k.

    Not necessarily. The core i5 (which is obviously quad core )is much much more future proof than the athlon.

    The problem is, athlon II x4 will run out of steam in 1-1.5 years, while core i5 will go on upto atleast 3 years. In 1.5 yrs time the OP will need to upgrade again.(requiring a truckload of cash again..)
    Core i5 may have a high initial buying cost, but pays you off in the long run.

    So Core i5, I think is the better option.

    @saswat23, deltapage lists a 500gb at 1.9k...where did you get that 1.7 quote?

    Thats what i said GeekyBoy. At this budget only intel i5 can be considered, not i3 as AthlonII X4 is better than i3.

    And about the HDD, thats probably an old pricelist of DeltaPage. A new one costs not more than 1.7k and a 250GB is very very rare to find now a days.

    Yep...i3 is good only if you game the whole day.....

    Athlon x4 will get outdated pretty quickly, so thats why i suggested i5...

    I convinced and will go for i5. Now if i increase my budget to 16K can have any better motherboard. Actually i am in photography business and microsoft caught me with 5 pirated copies of OS on 5 of my machines. Now i have to go for the original and i decided to replace all my dual core CPUs. As the quantity is 5 i dont want to increase the budget. But i want a better motherboard. I want at least 2 pci slot on one of these motherboard as i have to install two special firewire card on one of them. onboard firewire port will not work for me. Please help me. Thank you.
