Default Trouble connecting to secured router

I secured my wireless router using WPA (using winXP, which is the alternate boot). Subsequently, I could connect to wireless broadband internet connection without any problem. But I am facing connection problems with wireless internet in Ubuntu. I am unable to connect even to the wireless network.

How can I possibly do that?

I found out that the workaround was to allow the router to broadcast the SSID. But I am not sure how far the security is compromised by doing this !

Security can be compromised even without the SSID. Just put some lengthy password consisting of alphanumeric characters. So don't worry bt the SSID. If u r that paranoid, then u can also change the password monthly or weekly. That ways terrorists won't be able to misuse ur network.
