Some of the major changes from 0.8.6 to 0.9.2 include:
* New Qt4 interface for Windows and Linux
* Support for many new codecs (Dirac, Atrac3, APE, ...) and demuxers
* Vastly improved subtitles support
* Media library, Live playlist search, Last.FM support
* Album art support
* Improved metadata support
* Video for Linux 2 support (v4l2)
* DVB support on Windows (BDA)
* Simplified libvlc and Mac OS X development framework
* New localization to Finnish, Persian, Polish, Punjabi and Bulgarian

A comprehensive list of new features can be found on our wiki

notes at <http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc/NEWS> (See "Changes
between 0.8.6i and 0.9.1" as well as "between 0.9.1 and 0.9.2"). This
document also includes "important notes" which you should read before
upgrading to VLC 0.9.2.

Binary packages for Windows and MacOSX, as well as source code tarballs
are available for download at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ .

Help is available, as usual, in many places:
* The documentation (we need help keeping it up to date!):

* The forum: http://forum.videolan.org
* Mailing lists: http://www.videolan.org/support/lists.html
* IRC: #videolan on Freenode

We'd like to thank all our contributors, testers and users around the
world for their support and help making this release possible.

Which distro do you use ?
Since this released only on September 15th, 2008, most distros don't have it, and making packages available for distros is something which can take time. But heck, you can always install from source code. Its a simple ./configure && make && sudo make install thing till an official package arrives

Looks ? Wait till you see the list of bugs still in it. There is a HUGE problem with the OSX Release. I don't know the details, but each time you forget to do er... something before installing, VLC crashes.

Oi, AmaroK is only an audio player. The only other all in one media player for linux which rocks and uses QT4 is SMPlayer 8)

@MetalheadGautham - Audio comes under the media branch I suppose. Why point the obvious? Besides a plasma applet for the Phonon based video player is incoming for it (Amarok), works very buggily for now.

I used this version at college today (Had to download it for playing "An Inconvenient Truth" to the class) and its great to see full-screen controls. The port too looks great, but am satisfied right now with mplayer. This is great to carry around instead!
