Default Live CDs on my laptop

Can anyone explain that many Live CDs do not work on my laptop. All the recent Chip/Digit ones I mean. Linspire (Digit May), ArkLinux (Chip DVD May), Vector Linux, they all boot and I get a Grub prompt
grub>
with some options with tabs as is the general way with terminal. But nothing beyond.
The laptop is Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 7620, AMD 2500+M.

Even then it has to boot from the CD with GUI. It did so only with a Grub prompt. And no I did not try with Ubuntu. Knoppix based distros have worked fine when Live.

All, I had installed Xandros earlier, Rangoli (IndLinux l10n) Arabix by arabeyes.org, Knoppix, GameKnoppix, Morphix had no problems at least earlier. I have to check again if there is some thing gone wrong with this. Just during FOSS workshop on May 19th in the GSI FOSS Lab for the FOSS delegates I demonstrated booting into Suse live as well as GISix (Grass 6 Knoppix).
