Emerald theme manager not working

I have Linux Mint 5(Elyssa) installed. I installed Emerald through package manager and downloaded a few themes.
But when I open emerald & double click on the themes, nothing happens. There is no change. How do I fix this ?

or else press Alt+F2 and enter emerald --replace

Download compiz fusion icon for more ease...And once it starts showning on the systray after its launch,goto something which says window manager or decorator (by right clicking over the icon)...There uve gotta select emerald in place of "metacity" which is the default window decorator of ur running OS...Thats it !!!
