Talking linux popularity!!!!

Hi,
i started dis forum to get known about linux benefits compare to windows so pls help me guys to dis forum......
1.how linux became popular.......
ans.) it has ability to give privileges to user n also to files dis s d main reson to d popularity.....

tell ur comments why linux became popular give ur respective eg's....


what r d commands made linux more popular n which r used frequently in linux......


which command do u like in linux...

for me chmod,chgroup,su etc.....

by dis forum can we can learn lot of linux commands by sharing it... n its uses also........
