Tell me any good temp monitor/controller for linux or specifically Ubuntu

lm_sensors package.install gnome panel applet also.
then run sensors-detect.

Thats mostly a "hung" temp. sensor.. don't worry...

What is diff between system, cpu, core 0 & core 1 temp ?

system = mobo temp ?
cpu = mean cpu temp ?
core 0 = cpu 0 ?
core 1 = cpu 1 ?

system - mobo/ambient temp
cpu - average cpu temp on the die/junction
cpu0 - actual temp of core1
cpu1 - actual temp of core2

I use hddtemp and lm-sensors . Then use Conky to see the outputs.

using lm-sensors,hddtemp .uses sensors-applet on Gnome panel
you can configure by running as root "sensors-detect ".

gfx card temp are shown by....nvclock util? sometimes applets shows ,sometimes not
