Hi,

Suggest me a good linux live CD Distro.
I shud be able to get the desktop directly without writing any command.

I mean i don't want terminal.
I just wanna get a GUI interface.

I m thinking of Knoppix.Is it good?
Will running knoppix through a CD directly take me to desktop??

Or suggest some good linux to me, but my conditions shud be fulflled.

Ubuntu, Opensolaris and most other livecd distros give you GUI desktop without entering any command. Try Ubuntu. But the system works slowly as compared to that with distro installed

chuck in the live CD, select boot from disc, wait for 5 minutes. It should boot to the environment.

Get Linux Mint 4 (codename: Daryna) from http://www.linuxmint.com

This is a neat and great Linux distro with all codecs built in.

for home use, Ubuntu is the best.

For administration purpose, try Fedora/Suse/opensolaris.

Just prefix your command with "sudo" (without quotes).
ex.
Code:
$ sudo init 0
Now, command will execute as root. It may ask the password.

For Live distro, Knoppix is the best I think. Also, you can try using Ubuntu Hardy (i.e. 8.04).

did you click VGA in the boot menu and select resolution ? Did you try start ubuntu in safe graphics mode ?

I never ever faced this issue. I don't have any idea what could be wrong with your ubuntu.

Nope, i didn't clicked anywhere.

1 dialog box comes that Ubuntu is not able to identify the graphics processor(or something like this) of ur computer. Do u want to configure it now?

I clicked on continue. And then, that $ mishap starts.
