XAMPP not working

hi,
i just insatll xampp in my kubuntu box..
i'm able to run the http://localhost/ butwhen i put my own work in htdocs and try to access it does not show me the...result..and one moe thing i noticed that when i try to access the 'http://localhost/'
it goes to the 'http://localhost/xampp/'.
please help me to configure it.

Ok, just to clear the confusion, XAMPP is WORKING!

Go to the folder \xampp\htdocs and delete or rename the index.php and index.html files.

backup the file named index.php in your htdocs folder to index.php.bak (or nething) and then bring in ur new index file here, hit localhost on your browser, it should work now!!

the server is running but the file is not reading...from the "htdocs" folder.
No it not working....htdocs folder is in /lampp/htdocs....
there is any configuration in the xampp which i have to do.

Put your files in htdocs/xxx then navigate to localhost/xxx
If that doesn't work, check the DocumentRoot, in your apache config file.

yes you are right i'm not able to navigate to localhost/xxx after putting file in htdocs/xxx.

hey mehul can you pleaase tell where exactly i can find the Documentroot. i'm not able to find it.
