Wink Ubuntu 8.04 [Hardy Heron] LTS Released !



Ubuntu has finally released their second LTS [Long Term Support] Operating system.. Being the most widely used Linux distro we all have huge hope with this big release. So lets take a quick look at its features an aplication : 00

  1. Calculator (an arithmetic, scientific or financial calculator)
  2. Character Map (permits to insert special characters into documents)
  3. Dictionary (a tool to search word definitions and spellings in an online dictionary)

I spend some time on #ubuntu, Plus audio,firefox & the nvidia_new driver is giving people a hard time

Good thing that I have Intel graphics. I planned my trip to home to coincide with the release. Going to install Hardy this Friday.

nice to hear that they switched to pulseaudio.that means,in some time in near future,we can say salaam goodbye to audio problems esp multiple instances.
Gnome-2.22 got some minor teething problems though(as per gentoo/arch forums)

Well according to folks in our IRC Channel in #think-digit the person who tried it out said it was amazingly good . Not to mention that he was one of those folks who wouldn't even touch Ubuntu with a yardstick. (I'm keeping the user name a secret , all of us IRC folks know who you are )

Just took a class today running Open Office 2.4 from the live cd. It looks good.
