Finally long awaited Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition is now availlable in https://shipit.ubuntu.com/
It comes in Two edition

• Desktop Edition, for almost all PCs, including x86-based systems like Intel Pentium and AMD Athlon. Choose this if you are unsure.
• 64-bit Desktop Edition, for computers based on the AMD64 or Intel64 architectures (e.g., AMD Athlon 64, and Intel Core 2).

Now i got one doubt ,i am having following system Configuration
AMD Athlon 3200+
Asus Motherboard
Which edition (Desktop or 64-bit Desktop)i ve to order or which best suits my hardware??

and regarding your question....
your processor is 64 bit and so it can work wit the 64 edition.
but if you are new to linux install 32bit first.
