Default How to enable compiz in Mandriva 2008 and in UBuntu 7.10


hi Tuxs,
I chose linux because of its security and attractive GUI with Beryl and Compiz,I having following System conifguration
AMD Athlon 3200
Asus A8V-VM Series
80GD Harddisk
I Tried Several Distribution such as Open suse10.3,Mandriva 2008,
Moreover i also Allocated 128MB on board Video Memory.But Compiz not working!!
Did anyone faced similar problem??,but it works well with my friend computer with P4 with intel motherboard without Graphics Card

Out of curiosity does this board use a VIA Display chipset? If so you are in for one hell of a problem configuring it. I recall gary4gar screaming bloody murder when he tried to configure it .

ya i i using VIA Display chipset with 128MB Video memory...But still no hopes

I think you have to install Openchrome
xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
