transferring files between mobile and pc

I am presently using Xubuntu 8.04, i am facing problems in transferring files between pc and mobile. if i select "data storage mode" while connecting mobile, it is opened as USB drive. i can see folders in the MMC but when i want to copy any file it hangs in between. same problem was there in ubuntu 7.10 and kubuntu 8.04

What mobile phone? Maybe that can help. I haven't faced any such problems with Nokia 6233 and N72.

i am having nokia 6233, do you use Ubuntu?

Yes, my sister has Nokia 6233 and I sucessfully transferred a lot of songs on the phone from ubuntu. I had connected it via bluetooth, usb mode worked as well but that only shows MMC card.
Are you trying to write to MMC card? Maybe the card has gone bad?

i noticed that pc is hanging for some time (~1 min) when i transfer files to/from mobile. during this time the window becomes unresponsive, after that file is transferred. i was able to transfer 1 file in 2-3 minutes (13kB file)
