Default Drivers for SuSE 9.1


I cant find linux driver for my sound card, Realtek AC'97 . Is there any place where i can download it?

All the drivers are available at the vendour's website.

But AC'97 chipset is recognised by all the distributions.

Well, i had problems with that. When i was playning any music or sound, everything wasnt understanable, and in Yast it said that Suse cant recognize my sound card. lol weird

Try reinstalling alsa full lib+ core+driver+utilities this helps at times.

Sorry there are no drivers as such for AC'97 chipset so lets go over it again (the problem is i do not have susi so its all generic)
1. change dir to /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
2. Go to device drivers -> sound. Check that the support for alsa is enabled.
3. go to pci devices and select the line
<M> Intel/SiS/nVidia/AMD/ALi AC97 Controller
Thats it recompile the kernel Sound will work.
