How to install the complete ubuntu from Digit dvd

Digit gave the ubuntu DVD on Dec last, which was supposed to contain everything from codecs to 3rd party softwares. But when I installed it, I only got the basic stuff. No codec, no dvd supprt etc. How to install the complete dvd?

what do u mean?use System>admin>Synaptic package manager and install whatever software u found necessary!

You are not getting it. I don't want to download all that stuff. Digit says that all required packages are already on the DVD. How to install from the DVD. I think somebody who has that Digit DVD can understand it.

^^add the DVD as a repo.
then install from it using the usual methord.


PS: its too late to install Gutsy. In less than 50 days, Hardy with LTS is comming

Insert the DVD in the drive, when ubuntu is running?

System>Administration>Software sources>Third-party softwares tab>Add cd rom.


however adding from cd rom might not work, from my experiance as digit people messed up with the dvd. they added non ubuntu stuff on disk which confuses the setup. better download directly, install ubuntu-restricted-extras

The dvd does not have the neccessary things you will need to do the below:
No codec or flash.

You will need to use ubuntu-restricted-extras to get it. Once you install GUtsy from that DVD the DVD should already be in the repos list so theres no point in adding it again. (Im assuming you installed it from this DVD )
