Question Alternative to Windows Live Messenger in Linux

Hi,

I am a Windows Vista user. I am planning to shift to Linux but the problem is my friends are all using Windows Live Messenger and they are not willing to switch to Linux alternatives. Can you please suggest an alternative to Windows Live Messenger which can be used in Linux to chat with Windows users with the same functionality as Windows Live Messenger.

If such a software is available, I will be switching to Linux in no time.

Regards,
Sourav

You could use aMSN or Pidgin or Kopete depending on the distro you are choosing.
