Default Only Linux distro that actually worked. :P

Ubuntu 7.10

All other distros gave me one hell time for Hardware issues.

Finally I saw Compiz on my Comp It roxxxx.

Now Just waiting for my Broadband to come then the Codecs for multimedia will be installed. After that XP boot will be strictly for gaming

Also if you are 64 bit I can mail you most of my debs I cant host it cause if I do the same from an internet cafe I think I might upload a virus along with it . I cant do the same on my internet connection cause I only have a rs 250 connection with 1GB of bandwidth. However I can write it on a cd and mail it to you !

Thanks a ton bro ^^

Sound quality / volume is even better than Windows. I have a good collection of MP3, DVD Movies, AVI and all. For all the things Codecs are available so thats no issue.

ps: I am missing K Media Player. It was my fav from Debian Times. Can someone tell me repo to add where I can find it with all its Codecs?

Ps: I installed the one Which Came with Digit DVD. Which is 32 Bit I think**

Btw: That Link rocks. I will do that after office hours

if you have internet access then: click on this: ubuntu-restricted-extras
wait for about 3-4 sec after clicking. In both cases you will get a box, asking YES or NO

this packages(softwares) requires to add extra repositories(repo in short)
its is a one time procedure & do this if you haven't already done so
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:G...a_repositories

now you are done with config part
you got codec,fonts,flash,etc etc

The Link is provided in above post. The one with Offline Multimedia thing. Open it and follow the instructions. They are pretty simple to do

Ubunutu Restricted Driver will install the Driver for your gfx Card [ATi / nVidia]and 3D will be enabled.

Incase you are using Asus Motherboard dont forget to disbale ACPI and Other Advanced Poer management options. They sometimes cause weird probs in Linux if enabled.

Other than that everything will run brisk

Good luck

Try this first . Go to System > Administration > Software Sources and then Select Main , Universe, Multi verse and Restricted. Make sure that the DVD you have is shown as a source in the text box below. If I recall correctly that will cause to reload the packages list. Anyway after that go to System > administration > Restricted Driver manager and check if you can enable the drivers in there if they haven't been done so already.

Low as in if you move the slide 80% you cant here anything. Cause I still have this problem after recompiling ALSA.

The Volume is kinda not consistent. You get the sound only at more than 85%. The increase in sound beyond that is too inconsistent. At 85% = Too Low. AT 100% = Too Loud. I use ALSA.

Sound is Consistent. But Max Level is not loud enough. I will check with the Sound volume thing
