BitDefender for Linux – A Dream Come True

BitDefender, one of the most popular names on the IT security market, has been approved for compliance with Red Hat's OS, the Bucharest-based company announced today. What does this mean? Well, from now on, we'll know for sure that BitDefender Security for Mail Servers and BitDefender Security for Samba are fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Novell’s SuSE Linux Enterprise
Server.

The two technologies are supposed to bring more security in a market already famous for its protection system against viruses, spyware, malware and other malicious files that could harm the users' computers. While Windows is affected every day by new types of threats, the Linux industry was always regarded as a safe way to work on a computer without having to install complex software solutions to keep your data away from hackers.

"Red Hat and Novell are the two largest Linux distributors in the world," said Alexandru Balan, Linux product manager, BitDefender. "Through these new technology partnerships, BitDefender is now a preferred provider of security solutions for the Linux community."

BitDefender is currently placed among the top players on the security market, bundling numerous utilities which could help the users protect their computer. Starting with antispam features and ending with antispy tools, BitDefender's technologies are described as being some of the most efficient solutions on the market.

"We have designed our software to be fully POSIX compliant, automatically integrating with all the most popular mail servers and packaged for all the major Linux distributors, as well as FreeBSD. Gaining approval from Novell and Red Hat further assures our customers that BitDefender is committed to making compliance a top priority."

A 1-year subscription of BitDefender Security for Mail Servers for 10 years can be bought for $349 while the same license for BitDefender Security for Samba is valued at $249.5.

Don't they kind of contrast.
And why would anyone prefer this over open source solutions like clamav?
