Smile How to write separate DVD for Linux OS provided in Digit DVD

Hi,
First of all, Thanks for providing Linux distros in Digit DVD. You guys are working best.

I want to write separate DVD for OpenSUSE to give my friends. But I don't want to write dual layer 8GB DVD everytime. I just want to write normal 4GB DVD. So, Please provide me info how to write OpenSUSE (and other distros too, which provided as bootable in Digit DVD) in normal 4GB DVD.

Thanks in advance

There is great demand for doing this, cool. Wish I had that DVD with me to try and find a way. Sadly I don't, you'll have to wait.

This is very simple as liking lolly pop.
for me at least
U need a tool called UltraISO
Google for it,

Create the ISO image of the digit dvd
[with help of nero or eny other app u like]

->Open that dvd ISO in UltraISO
n Delete the unwanted stuff
as it is a dvd+Bootable Os it will surely [sorry MAY BE] contains the digit dvds comman folders like

Entertainment
Gaming
Productivity
Tools
wallpapers
Music
Movies
AUTORUN.INF
Digit.exe
xxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx
and some files with uncommon extension

the namead xxxxx folders n remaining files with uncommon extension
are the linux Os's Folders n files

Now
Surely Delete the following folders n files

Entertainment
Gaming
Productivity
Tools
wallpapers
Music
Movies
AUTORUN.INF
Digit.exe

So now u have only the folders xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxxx n some files with uncommon extension, save that ISO Image.now u have the ISO File of only linux Os.

Burn that file n enjoy

================================================== ===

HAPPY LINUX

I will try and reply with the UltraISO process.
Is the Digit Team also doing this way?

A simple way to do it in linux would be
1. Just copy paste the DVD contents as it is on a folder on your hard disk
2. Remove unnecessary contents
3. Make an iso image out of it using mkisofs, even K3B should be able to do it I suppose.
4. (Optional) Test it in a VM if it's bootable or not.
I believe that this should work though I haven't tried it myself.

@ NucleusKore

Bandwidth wastage is right section for peples like u go there.....!
--------------------------------------------------------------------

@ praka123

Dnt have enough space, sorry for this,in this process u need atleast 8 to 9 gb of free space on HDD, 4 GB For The copied files . n other 4 GB for creating ISO File.
[In both ways with ULtraISO Or with IsoBuster.
definitely in UltraISO because there u must have to create th ISO Image First.
more easy than ISOBuster method.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
there are several other ways for this job
using ISOBuster---extracting boot of Linux---add to burning image---
that is only little bit of hard...only little bit.....

For Newbie users the method of UltraISO Is Best.

Yes you forgot to mention how much it costs, $29.95. And while I'm at it ISOmaster is FREE. Many people are simply not aware of the many options open to them, free of cost. A little awareness never hurt anyone. Its better than using pirated stuff.

@NucleusKore

I Dont care,it depends upon the user,
I am using the
BBIE - Bart's Boot Image Extractor[TO EXTRACT THE BOOT IMG]
ImgBurn-[For Burning,creating of ISO Files]

These tools are completely freeware.

Working with them is little bit difficult for new user at least with BBIE.OK!?

as i said abt the ultraIso......that is for only new user
and the 30 day trial enough or this.

And ISO Master is available only for Linux,N BSD
have any other option for window,? NO!

Just use Magic ISO or any iso editor and remove all the unwanted stuff (except the linux os).. it ll still remain bootable.. just burn it then..

Great. Most of the discussion in this thread revolves around using closed source software, in the Open Source section.

@mehulved - You've hit the nail on the head

and

@Orionz, you know the BEST solution for brweb that will suit him AND this thread
1. Install Open SuSE from the DVD
2. Enable the repositories as outlined here - http://www.softwareinreview.com/cms/content/view/84
3. In YaST-> software management search and install isomaster
4. Make iso using dd
5. Edit the iso with IsoMaster

That's an Open Source solution for an Open source thread
