after installing Divx codec, how to run it

dont need to run it ..just open a DivX file with any media player or WMP >> & it shud be decoded.

Which distro are you on? And please do not install the divx codec from the site.. Linux has gstreamer/xine backends which decode all files..

ubuntu feisty running, why shouldn't i use divx codec  ?, no doubt gstreamer is their, but i wanna try tat, divx codec is better.

vish, no divx codec is not better..  Just do "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras" that should help you play all files.

they r playing but "garrrr garrrr " sound is produced when i increase the volume.

their should be some way of running this codec after installation ?{running is difficult then installing} ...

dude,i never faced so called grr grr while playing divx or xvid.that problem may be with some particular player(totem???).i am sure mplayer or xine will play it perfectly.also try to optimize the options in players.
