Installing ubuntu7 & fedora7

I have a MS6577 ver4.1 motherboard ,P4,640 MB RAM, sony dvd rw
the problem is when i boot ubuntu7 & other linux versions older then ubuntu7.04 by my cd or dvd drives to install them then after showing two lines.................computer restarts.I tought my mobo doesnot supports linux.
But when i tried the Fedora7 my computer booted into that & i got it installed.
Can anyone explain what went wrong with other linux versions & is there is a way to install Ubuntu7.04 in my mobo by some change in the install setup cd.

try ubuntu feisty alternate cd.for me,something of the same happened that was related to scsi settings(sata) in BIOS.i tried setting available option so that Linux get working
