I can not read DVD Disk in DVD ROM in R.H. Linux 8

My Dear Friends

I install Sony DVD rom in R.H. Linux 8.0

It is read CD-rom but do not read DVD..!!

when i insert Cd in that dvd rom linux open autometic that cd but not happend in DVD disk...!!

i check sony DVD rom in windows it is read all DVD disk

so requred some setting in linux

so what is that setting requred in R.H. linux 8.0 for read dvd disk??

it does recognise as default u don'y need to set it up,

well,

I think you should upgrade your box to atleast RH9 or FC1 otherwise in current scenario with RH8 you need to compile your kernel with some extra packages to get the DVD work.

I m not sure about what u said coz my DVD ROM was supported on my RH8 system---

but as i said earlier that i m not sure about -- so pls don't take me in wrong nd if u can explain it then it's going to be more good

but it is true that in RH8 DVD disk is not read in sony DVD Rom

but It is reading CD disk in RH8 so something is worng so can any buddy help me plese...!!!!!!!!!!!??????????
