Compiz-fusion installation for *buntu Feisty Fawn

Install Compiz & compiz Fusion plugins.
Add repositories to sources.list file

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

add these lines at the end & save.

#compiz-fusion
deb http://ppa.dogfood.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu feisty main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://ppa.dogfood.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu feisty main restricted universe multiverse

after adding entries, update
for gnome.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install compiz compizconfig-settings-manager

for kde.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install compiz compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-kde

For Fusion-icon.

sudo apt-get install git-core

Install Emerald themes.

sudo apt-get install emerald-themes

For manually starting Compiz-fusion
Press Alt+F2, then type

compiz --replace
or
fusion-icon

For Autostart during boot up.
For gnome.

compiz --replace
Goto, System-->Admin-->Sessions,Click New.
Under Name: Compiz-fusion
Command: fusion-icon

For Kde.
In terminal type,

cp fusion-icon ~./Autostart/

To launch Compiz Config Settings Manager
Press ALT+F2

ccsm

If their's an prob with Window border decorations.
In terminal type.

sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals -d 24

but for me, trevino's repos haf been more stable (tho i don't use CF now). amarnath's repos always caused some or the other probs. hows it working at ur system?

amarnath's repo r safe for me & compiz still didnt get crashed till date.
