Default didnt go to the desktop appear in terminal window when login


hi friends,yesterday i installed suse-10.2 in my system.it is working fine for afternoon.then in afternoon when i try to login to suse linux it will appear in terminal mode.it will ask the user name and login password.then i give it it didnt go to the kde desktop.it will appear in the same terminal window.wat can i do for go to the kde desktop?please help me.

type startx from the terminal

or init 5 as root..

did you install or remove anything prior to getting this problem? i think something has been uninstalled or some config file messed up.

did u login as root and tried something OR used yast2 manager to remove unwanted packages etc?then most prolly kde may be removed.

another chance is runlevel /etc/inittab edited to 3(no X) but it seems ur not affected by that.
if not,try login from a tty and /etc/init.d/gdm force-reload could have worked.
or run startx;startkde too to make sure X and kde is there or not.

ctrl+alt+f7 is the shortcut key for bootin in GUI mode.

is it resolution or monitor blinking problem ?

or do u get any error messages after typin startx in terminal.
