exaile: an amarok alternative based on gtk
Quote:
Exaile is a music player aiming to be similar to KDE's Amarok, but for GTK+ and written in Python. It incorporates many of the cool things from Amarok (and other media players) like automatic fetching of album art, handling of large libraries, lyrics fetching, artist/album information via Wikipedia, Last.fm submission support, and optional iPod support via a plugin.
In addition, Exaile also includes a built-in SHOUTcast directory browser, tabbed playlists (so you can have more than one playlist open at a time), blacklisting of tracks (so they don't get scanned into your library), downloading of guitar tablature from fretplay.com, and submitting played tracks on your iPod to Last.fm.

get it here: http://www.exaile.org/
i believe its also available in ubuntu 7.04 repos. jus try this
Code:
sudo apt-get install exaile
tho its still not fully a replacement for amarok, but still i'm pretty satisfied wid it. its pretty light and does a lot of things. gotta try out songbird too now, to compare wid this program.
ps: u will need gstreamer!

Re: exaile: an amarok alternative based on gtk
In the picture, the exaile looks bit like rhythmbox. They copied the skin and interface too?

Re: exaile: an amarok alternative based on gtk
amarok is the clear winner.. but i din want any qt apps on my gnome + xfce desktop (both based on gtk+)... so i'm using it and lemme tell ya.. this app is as stable as ever! the best part is the internet radio integration, album art and jukebox integration!

Re: exaile: an amarok alternative based on gtk
I meant qt library(pss..kde!).opera-static does not need u to have libqt3-mt-dev as dependency as it comes precompiled.thats what i meant.u can get the version in opera deb repo.
@vish:abe title badala re!check out

Re: exaile: an amarok alternative based on gtk
I can't get my Exaile to show the folder.jpg files of each Album folder as the Album Art in the library, while Amarok does it automatically .. Any headers? (Except asking me to retag them or do it manually etc, tell me if I missed anything)
(My music resides on a writable NTFS Folder and the tagging is done via WMP 11)

Re: exaile: an amarok alternative based on gtk
@harsh
i haf no idea. first, i don't use wmp11 and second i keep my shared data on fat32 partitions. but then all the folder.jpg are correctly displayed......
************************************************
ok after adding the repo and updating using sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get upgrade you should be able to install the latest svn of exaile. to enable the equiliser in it u need to install the following packages:
http://rapidshare.com/files/46867419..._i386.deb.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/46867541..._i386.deb.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/46867705..._i386.deb.html
(you may need to install libneon6 or something to solve some dependencies. jus use sudo apt-get install libneon... or whatever the package is)
after you do that u should be able to use equiliser. also u can download and install plugins from the plugins dialog. must haves are: mini mode, resume, streamripper, shoutcast etc.
