Default Want to type bengali in Ubuntu 7.04?


How acn one write bengali in Ubuntu 7.04 (in phonetic setup)?Is there any writer that allows user to write in Bengali?

You can install and use yudit in ubuntu or for simple word usage try in menu Apps>accsres>gucharmap .make sure ttf-indic-fonts or ttf-bengali-fonts installed.I have used Yudit with both malayalam and devnagari;both worked well.(transliterator)

SCIM is a great way to type in many languages easily...

again yudit is versatile.it offers both inscript support and direct transliteration.for eg: for hindi,hinglish works perfect.
