Modify Network Files
I am having a LAN network and I have 4 computers connected thru hub. On 3 I m using Windows XP SP2 while on 1 laptop I m using Linux Mint 3.0.
My problem is dat I can access network but I cannot open or modify files on odr computers. Those computers have given full sharing. SMB is already present in Linux Mint.
How do I let my laptop modify netwrk files? I tried rite clicking netwrk folders and setting permission to "read and write" but dat doesnt happen n error is returned.

Re: Modify Network Files
I m not gettin Workgroup option though I can input Host name in settings option of "Wired Connection". I hav manually assigned IP addr - 192.168.100.150 to my laptop.

Re: Modify Network Files
workgroup has to be specified in /etc/samba/smb.conf file
and check in windows too if they are in the same workgroup.

I modified my smb.conf file to include d workgroup name. But dat still doesnt help. In Network Settings - Wired Connection, I hav manually entered IP addr as 192.168.100.201.

I m stil not able to open files (esp. .doc, .xls, etc.)

Package `openoffice.org-*' is not installed and no info is available.
Use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files,
and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents) to list their contents.
/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: openoffice.org-* is not installed
