Default ubuntu partition expansion


hi,

I have dual boot vista and ubuntu 7.04. the ubuntu partition is 10 GB. can i increase it without having to reinstall either of them? if so, shud i do it from ubuntu or vista disk management?

there are risk with partn resizing be ready with a backup.if possible.

Once i tried to expand ext3 using gparted live CD but it screwed up linux installation So i had to use Partition magic.

Depends on what type of backup you want to create and what distro. There are tools available too.
A nice example is sabayon. It's actually just a backup of gentoo, they have only left out the /dev directory. Then they have later added other things.
There are many shell scripts available for that too.
Also, you want incremental backups?

If you want Acronis like solution then use mondorescue. It makes disk image of your linux partition and makes a bootable cd/dvd which you can use to restore.
