Default gtalk on gaim

how to access gtalk using gaim?
i am using ubuntu 7.04. the problem is that pidgin is not avalible in repositories. therefore, i downloaded the debian package of pidgin and tried to uninstall gaim. however, when i give the option of uninstalling it, it tells me that it will also remove ubuntu desktop and nautilus.

so , can anyone help?

Simple. Do as anantkhaitan suggested. I use it in the same way. I use it to chat on Hotmail (2), Yahoo (1), ICQ (1), Gmail (1).

Go to advanced tab and make sure that under "Connect Port" it is 5222 and under "Connect server" it is talk.google.com.
