softwares for Feisty Fawn...

I hav installed Feisty Fawn and wud like to knw some softwares which i can install to get it working like Windows...

Softwares For
1. DVD Movies(.avi, .dat, .vob etc etc)
2. For torrent downloading...
3. FOr MP3 songs... A good player in which one can manage songs easily like Jet audio 7.0
4. For internet datause...(means how much i hav DL/UL in a Particular session)
5. To schedule the PC i.e it sud wake up from hibernation at 2.15 am.... The most happy hours...
6.Programming C/C++... a good user oriented software... dont want that command line Gcc etc..


Also I wud like to knw that if i can install KDE, coz i dont like GNOME much...
If yes from where can we download that and wat abt the dependencies etc...

I think the guide @ http://ubuntuguide.org explains it well.
as for installing kde,go to menu System>admin>SYnaptic pkg manager and install Ubuntu-kde.
1.I uses xine-ui and gmplayer
2.Azureus,deluge,bittornado...
3.exaile,amarok(kde)
4.hv to search for dat
5.I uses cron for doing that read 'man 5 crontab'
6.Anjuta,Eclipse all GUI tools..

Either get Kubuntu alternate cd or add Kubuntu repos. Then select the package kubuntu-desktop to get KDE

automatix is also worth trying.. I never tried it though..
