Arrow Broadband in Windows V/S Broadband in Linux..

Yesterday i successfully configured broadband in Linux to some extent but there was a problem..
Everytime i want to connect to internet in Linux i hav touse PPPoe(something like this) and when i get into windows i hav to again change the settings of my motherboard by visiting 198.168.1.1 to Bridge so that i can successfully connect to the internet...
Wat is the difference between these two??
Cant a get into a middle way so that i dont need to change the setting again and again..
thnx...

If you keep it as bridge, it should work out of the box in linux too!

For dataone

Login to http://192.168.1.1/

then use user name Admin and password admin to access the modem settings, Navigate to Connection from Left side menu of BSNL modems, there should be Many connection with name as PVC-0 PVC-1 etc, edit the 1st one to set connection type PPPoE and it will through u option to input user name and PW, do it.. save all settings and reboot the modem
