Default Transferring Files to Linux...


i have a dual boot system - red hat 8.0 & win xp

is thr any way to copy files like shell or lex files from windows to linux directory,then reading those files in linux without any problems ?

pls pls help me out on this

U can mount ur windows partn in Linux.
may be u can read..but not exe.there are decompilers available though
btwn rh8.0 is way old.maybe u shud try Fedora 7(RH successor) or Ubuntu Feisty?

Yeah... Windows partitions can be read, FAT32 or NTFS, both...

Why not .exe's ? Ofcourse, not all of em will work, but many will. WINE should help Red hat read and execute those nuh ?

I got many Programs on my erstwhile Windows partition like - Thunderbird, Firefox and some others running too...So, they will most probably work.

^^ I though he asks about win32 executables and other hidden files be read in Linux..ie,just open an editor and see the code ...to a certain extent is possible may be using exe decompilers.thats why.
Not about running win apps in linux.
but i know now my answer is confusing..hmm..sleeps a lot

^^ Well, you can run Win32 execs in Linux too. As I mentioned, I had run the Windows installation of Thunderbird and Firefox directly off the Windows partition. So, most of them will probably work.

Note: I've observed that portable and Open source Win32 apps run very well with WINE... When I say it, I refer to the executables running directly off the Window partition.
