Also, I don't really feel it is far fetched. I have used einit on Gentoo and to tell you honestly, it boots in less than 7-8 seconds!!! When your system passes out of the initial boot phase and your init takes over...you wouldn't even know what hit you. The boot process would be there one moment and then gone the next one. einit is still in initial stages of development but once Gentoo's baselayout 2 hits testing stage...we will see more gentoo users migrating to it and hence faster development.
